Plan B first planted its roots in December of 2006 with the idea to offer Madison's gay community a fresh and contemporary scene to their cosmopolitan nightlife. At the time Corey Gresen and Rico Sabatini began the colossal task of writing a business plan that would give direction to the project and also inspire the GLBT community. We quickly found out that everything is "easier said than done."
After the summer of 2007, a perfect space for Plan B became available at 301 S. Blount Street. The developer Marty Rifken quickly accepted the guy's new idea, and we proceeded to secure a liquor license from the Alcohol License Review Committee (ALRC). On December 19th, 2007 the ALRC granted Plan B's first license, which then went before the Common Council for final approval in early January 2008. During that period of time Mr. Rifken cut all negotiations with Plan B. Leaving Plan B looking for a new location. In June 2008, after the dust settled from the 301 Blount deal, a new possible location opened down the street. This new space had the size, the exposure, and the neighborhood that we were looking for and wanted. Unfortunately, the building was in the middle of it's own deal and would not be settled until early of 2009. Rico and Corey continued on believing fully that Williamson Street has always been and will continue to be Madison's progressive cornerstone neighborhood. A perfect place for Plan B. We hope Plan B will grow with the neighborhood for many years to come. Thanks to all for their support over the past 2 years. We look forward to serving the GLBT community. Plan B Boys, Rico & Corey
